Spend the Solstice in NYC and Proclaim, “Yoga is Charity!” - Help us spread those three little words...Yoga is Charity. On Saturday,
June 21st, in the center of Times Square, is just this type of opportunity.
Solstice in Times Square is a day of free yoga classes, in celebration of
sun, summer and creativity. There are four classes held that day and we will
be attending the 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm class if we can get a group large enough
to make an impact with our message. We are looking for a group of 20 or
larger to wear t-shirts bearing our phrase and logo. Sign-up is in the
studio. If our group is big enough, Yoga & U will pay to have the t-shirts
made and will donate them to the foundation for this event. Let's not miss
this opportunity...this time the world is watching.Join the “Yoga & U Summer Break Yoga Tour” - The studio will be closed Monday, June 23rd for summer break and will re-open Monday, July 7th. During these two weeks we will be visiting a different yoga studio, three times a week, in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Sign-up will be posted in the studio soon. This is a great chance to see some different styles of teaching as well as maintain your practice during break. We’ll see you on tour!
New Classes Coming! - New Classes…Next semester we will be adding Weights & Yoga and “Sunset Yoga” at an outside venue TBA, to the class calendar. We will also be offering “Introduction to the Yoga Sutras “as a three week workshop. These classes will be held on the beach in Point Pleasant Beach. This workshop is a great class for those interested in taking Yoga Sutra Study in the fall or those who would like an explanation of the written teachings of yoga.
Go Speed Go! On a Trip tp PA! - Join us in supporting the Yoga & U Foundation's Race Car...Speed Racer #15 driven by John Barnette. John has donated space on his car for the "Yoga is Charity" slogan to let everone know what this practice is all about. We will be going to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA on Saturday, July 26th for the 7:30 pm races. You can go to www.lincolnspeedway.com and check it out. A sign-up sheet is posted in the studio for all that are interested!
Goodbye Yellow…Yoga & U is Going Green – No, we’re not painting the studio. Each semester we plan on making a change in the green direction. Last semester we began recycling all the water bottles in the studio and next semester we will be going paperless with class sign-up. All students will receive their registration information via e-mail each semester instead of by US Mail. For those of you without e-mail, or as we like to say “staying yellow”, you may pick-up a registration pack at the studio. Remember…all change comes from small, consistent steps in a different direction. We welcome your feedback on how Yoga & U can help limit waste and conserve resources.
Suggestions, anyone? – Our Suggestion Box is out and we welcome your input. All feedback on your suggestions and questions will be posted by the box. We all have a voice. Choose to use it.
Student Activity Fund Plans Another Day Out - Our Student Activity Fund is growing and will be cashed in after the end of this semester. Suggestions for a trip can be placed in our suggestion box. A few that have been mentioned are a historical tour of Philadelphia and a day at an organic farm. Let us know your ideas!
